Description
Constipation
Constipation is generally described as having fewer than three bowel movements a week. Though occasional constipation is very common, some people experience chronic constipation that can interfere with their ability to go about their daily tasks.
Symptoms of constipation include going for a poo fewer than 3 times a week and finding it hard to poo.
The most common causes include:
- not eating enough fibre – such as fruit, vegetables and cereals
- not drinking enough fluids
- not moving enough and spending long periods sitting or lying in bed
- being less active and not exercising
- often ignoring the urge to go to the toilet
- changing your diet or daily routine
- a side effect of medicine
- stress, anxiety or depression
Making simple changes to your diet and lifestyle can help treat constipation. You may notice a difference within a few days. Sometimes it takes a few weeks before your symptoms improve, if the problems still arise you can consult your doctor to recommend a laxative, although you should be aware they should only be used for a short period of time.
But what should you do if the Bloating hasn’t decreased?
Research suggests that an imbalance in gut bacteria contributes to certain types of constipation, including irritable bowel syndrome with constipation. A good quality probiotic supplement like Gut Serenity helps support a balanced gut. Therefore, it helps reduce constipation symptoms.
One of Gut Serenity’s main ingredients is Vitamin D3. Chronic functional constipation is strongly linked to vitamin D deficiency and having a healthy intake of Vitamin D has been proved to help constipation massively. Vitamin D3 also improves the maintenance of normal muscle function and the health of teeth.
