Menopause
During menopause your oestrogen level declines which can cause a decrease in bone density and joint health. This decrease may cause you to develop osteoarthritis (OA). OA is the most common type of arthritis.
Reasons Behind Arthritis During Menopause
Many of the symptoms during menopause are caused by the hormonal imbalance in your body, caused by your body not producing the correct amount of hormones. The inflammation and pain of OA result from the breakdown of cartilage between joints. The most commonly affected joints are your knees, shoulders, and hips.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Oestrogen helps replenish bone density so taking HRT can help to maintain bone density and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. However, it’s not recommended as a way to maintain bone strength for most women around menopause. One reason is that the beneficial effects of HRT on your bones wear off when you stop taking it (usually before the age of 60).
Many women are unable to take HRT so they look for natural methods to help relieve them of their symptoms. Some of the reasons for them not being able to have HRT is due to having a history of; breast cancer, ovarian cancer, womb cancer, untreated high blood pressure or have liver disease.
How Routine Krill Oil Capsules Can Help
Krill oil contains DHA which reduces inflammation, swelling and pain.
Fish oil contains the omega-3 fatty acids Eicosapentatonic acid (EPA) and decoxahexaeonic acid (DHA). These particular acids benefit the body by promoting the reduction of inflammation in joints. EPA and DHA also limit the production of certain negative proteins that inhibit certain types of arthritis.
